Nestled in the heart of Tokyo, Sendagi is a neighborhood that beautifully retains its historic, old-town (shitamachi) charm. The client, whose family has rooted themselves in this very land for over a century, approached us with a profound request: to collaboratively envision a form of thoughtful, contextual “micro-development” that truly honors the site’s unique heritage.

This historic area was once a beloved sanctuary for prominent Japanese literary figures and editors. To safeguard this precious cultural landscape, SPROUTZ Studio is formulating a holistic approach—integrating strategic business viability with architectural vision—ensuring that a century of accumulated heritage is gracefully woven into a place meant to endure for the next hundred years.
